Alibi Training Australia (ATA) as a Registered Training Organisation
(RTO) is committed to providing quality services to their clients and this
policy outlines ongoing obligations in respect of how Personal Information is
Alibi Training Australia (ATA) has adopted the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (the Privacy Act). The APPs govern the way in which the RTO collects, use, disclose, store, secure and dispose of Personal Information. What Is Personal Information
Personal Information is information or an opinion that identifies an individual. Examples of Personal Information collected include: names, date of birth, Unique Student Identifier (USI) numbers, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, and current employer details if relevant.
This Personal Information is obtained in many ways including
correspondence, by telephone, by email, via our website on-line enrolment
process and/or enrolment forms completed before scheduled training, from other
publicly available sources, and from third parties like employers. When
Personal Information is collected Alibi Training Australia will, where
appropriate and where possible, explain why information is being collected and
how the RTO plans to use it.
Why Alibi Training Australia Collect Personal Information
As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), Personal Information is required for processing and management of an enrolment in an Accredited Training Course (VET), under the guidelines of the Regulator (ASQA). If personal information is not provided the RTO is unable to accept an enrolment and cannot issue qualifications for any available training.
How Alibi Training Uses Personal Information
ATA uses personal information to maintain compliance for the delivery
of Accredited (VET) training under to Standards and obligations as an RTO.
How Alibi Training Australia Will Disclose Personal Information
Alibi Training Australia (The RTO) is required by law (under the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Act 2011 (Cth) (NVETR Act)) to disclose the personal information collected to the National VET Data Collection kept by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research Ltd (NCVER). The National Vocational Education and Training Regulator (NCVER) are responsible for collecting, managing, analysing and communicating research and statistics about the Australian VET sector.
Alibi Training Australia (The RTO) is also authorised by law (under the
NVETR Act) to disclose Personal Information to the relevant State and/or Territory
How the NCVER and Other Bodies Handle Personal Information
The NCVER will collect, hold, use and disclose Personal Information in
accordance with the law, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act) and
the NVETR Act. Personal Information may be used and disclosed by NCVER for
purposes that include populating authenticated VET transcripts; administration
of VET; facilitation of statistics and research relating to education,
including surveys and data linkage; and understanding the VET market.
The NCVER is authorised to disclose information to the Australian
Government Department of Education, Skills and Employment (DESE), Commonwealth
authorities, State and Territory authorities (other than registered training
organisations) that deal with matters relating to VET and VET regulators for
the purposes of those bodies, including to enable:
- Administration of VET, including program administration, regulation,
monitoring and evaluation.
- Facilitation of statistics and research relating to education, including surveys and data linkage.
- Understanding how the VET market operates, for policy, workforce planning and consumer information.
The NCVER may also disclose personal information to persons engaged by
NCVER to conduct research on NCVER’s behalf.

Department of Education, Skills and Employment (DESE) is authorised by
law, including the Privacy Act and the NVETR Act, to collect, use and disclose Personal
Information to fulfil specified functions and activities. For more information

Any student who has completed Accredited (VET) training may receive a
student survey from a government department or an NCVER employee, agent,
third-party contractor or another authorised agency. Please note you may opt
out of the survey at the time of being contacted.
